BJP leaders discuss infrastructure issues in Rajouri, Poonch with L-G – The Tribune

A delegation of senior BJP leaders, including former Jammu & Kashmir party chief Ravinder Raina, along with Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Thakur Randhir Singh, Iqbal Malik, and Murtaza Khan, recently met with Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha to discuss various infrastructural concerns in the Rajouri and Poonch districts.

The delegation raised several important issues impacting the two districts, including the condition of the Jammu-Poonch Highway, the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission schemes, and the establishment of Degree Colleges in Peeri, Khawas and Manjakote. Other issues discussed included the completion of the Anas and Rajal irrigation canals, the railway project connecting Rajouri and Poonch and the early completion of the Rajouri-Thanamandi-Bafliaz road.

The delegation emphasised the need for the construction of various roads and the development of tourism potential areas, including the Shakar Marg project.

An official spokesperson stated that the LG assured the delegation that appropriate action would be taken to address the issues raised during the meeting.

The meeting, however, also highlighted the unique administrative situation in Jammu & Kashmir, as it comes at a time when the region is under the governance of the LG.

Both Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and Minister Javed Ahmed Rana, who hail from the Rajouri and Poonch regions, were not part of this meeting, raising questions about the dual nature of the administration in the Union Territory.
