Experts predict record-setting holiday travel while some in the Brazos Valley opt to host at home

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX)—Across the Brazos Valley, many drivers hit the road Tuesday for Christmas Eve travel and last-minute shopping.

This year AAA predicted 199 million people would travel over the holidays with 107 million choosing to drive.

“There’s a lot of people I think coming home for Christmas this year rather than going to the other side of the family,” said Owner of Herman’s Furniture, Jennifer Hermann.

Experts say December 22 was the nation’s worst travel day, and Christmas Eve traffic was expected to be minimal.

” I am home for Christmas my mom, grandma, husband’s family everyone lives here,” added Hermann.

If you’re driving home after the Christmas holiday, AAA says the best time to be on the road is Thursday morning before 11 a.m. or before 2 p.m. Friday to avoid the rush.
