Customers rush to Eastview Mall for last-minute Christmas shopping

Victor, N.Y. (WHAM) – The clock is ticking for last-minute holiday shopping, as customers rushed to the Eastview Mall Tuesday to get gifts before the big man in red makes his appearance.

Speaking with these shoppers, they say Christmas Eve is like the Super Bowl for people who wait until the very last minute to get shopping.

The doors of Eastview Mall closed at 6 P.M. Tuesday, and customers shopped until they dropped.

Trent Paskins says he comes here every Christmas Eve.

“We had some last-minute shopping, which is pretty normal for us. We do it every Christmas Eve at the mall,” continued Paskins. “It’s always looking for stuff for mom. We’ve got all the stuff we need, but we had to get Mom shopping done today, and took four hours.”

Paskins tells me, everything he needs for Christmas is right here, even those presents being wrapped.

“Because now we can go home and relax,” Paskins said. “We don’t have to wrap our presents, go out to dinner, enjoy ourselves tonight. It’s one less thing on the plate for tomorrow morning, right?”

The foot traffic in the mall was slow, making it easy for customers to get in and out.

“Busy, streamlined, fortunately, ironically enough, and I’m very impressed how polite and courteous people are generally as a New York state of mind, generally,” said Ken Gilfus. “But, this year it’s been quite the opposite.”

The street of last-minute shopping may be a deal breaker for some but, these customers had nothing to share but holiday cheer.

“Just keep spreading the peace and the joy,” Gilfus said. “Tis the season.”

“Merry Christmas, Mom,” said Easton DiNardo.

Paskins concluded. “Oh, everybody, have a wonderful holiday season, and wish everybody the best.”

Just a reminder, many stores including the Eastview Mall will be closed Wednesday
