Mario Hanukkah
The Scranton Jewish Community Center’s free, Mario-themed Hanukkah Festival is Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m. All are welcome. The menorah will be lit. Meadow Perry, a magician who incorporates giant bubbles into her act, will entertain and EJ the DJ will play. There will also be crafts, face painting, a balloon animal artist and kiddie race cars. There will be a demonstration of pressing olives to make olive oil. 601 Jefferson Ave., Scranton.
Northeastern Pennsylvania Hanukkah Festival
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Hanukkah Festival is Sunday at the Hilton Scranton, sponsored by the Jewish Discovery Center, from 4 to 7 p.m. International Jewish pop singer Eli Marcus will perform at 6. Also on the schedule at the 100 Adams Ave., Scranton hotel: the lighting of a grand menorah, crafts, a family arcade, food, vendors and a photo booth with Maccabee costumes available. Wyoming Valley Hanukkah
In Luzerne County, the Friedman Jewish Community Center organizes a Mayrutz torch run on Sunday. Runners will leave Wilkes-Barre at 5 p.m. and lead the way to a menorah lighting and party at the JCC, 613 S. J. Strauss Lane, Kingston. At the post-run party, a group of Chabad girls from Scranton will lead singing and hot chocolate and other treats will be served. The event is open to all.
Hazleton fireworks
Hazleton’s fifth New Year’s Eve fireworks celebration at City View Park begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, 700 S. Poplar St. Parking is available and the show can be seen from your car.
Light show continues at Nay Aug Park
The Christmas light display at Nay Aug Park, 500 Arthur Ave., Scranton, remains open through Jan. 7, 5 to 10 p.m., free. Use the Arthur Avenue entrance only.
