Travel outlook post-Christmas
GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Some of the busiest travel days post-Christmas could encounter some issues thanks to a frontal system impacting the Eastern United States.
Christmas Day brings some rain and snow to the Pacific Northwest, so that could cause delays around Seattle and Portland. The Carolinas and northeast look clear, so local travel delays aren’t likely. Some rain will be pushing through Louisiana and parts of the midwest.
Rain continues across the Great Plains and the Mississippi River Valley which could mean delays in places like Dallas and Kansas City. Snow impacts the Western Rocky Mountains with rain over the Pacific Coast so for watch for issues in places like Salt Lake City, Seattle and San Francisco.
The frontal system in the middle part of the country expands and brings rain from the Great Lakes down into the South. Areas like Minneapolis, Chicago and Nashville shouldn’t be too bad but the air may be a little bumpy. Snow continues through the Northern Rockies with rain along the Pacific Coast so check for delays in places like Boise and Portland.
The frontal system continues to impact much of the Eastern United States with rain stretching from New York to the Gulf Coast and back into Midwest. Minor delays are possible. Snow continues over the Northern Rockies with rain still persisting along the Pacific Coast.
Rain persists for the Eastern United States with impacts all up and down the East Coast. Road travel is going to be slow going across the Southeast. Delays are possible from Boston to Cincinnati to right here in the Carolinas and Atlanta. More rain and snow continues in the Pacific Northwest so watch for potential delays there too.
