Jennifer West, lovingly known as Jenny is one of the eight finalists of The Challenge 40. Originally from the show, Survival of the Fittest, Jenny is now ready to battle out for the ultimate win this season.
However, up until the finale goes out on Jan 1, 2025, fulfilling her fans’ demand, the fitness enthusiast decided to share a few not-to-dos right after having festive feasts and skipping workouts.
The Challenge 40 finalist Jenny shares fitness mistakes to avoid post-holidays
A few days before Santa came home, the fitness coach and The Challenge 40 finalist, Jennifer West shared a reel on her social media account where she talks about a few don’ts post-holidays.
“If it’s been a heavy weekend, you’ve been out, you’ve been drinking, eating your body weight in food, Christmas season upon us, come Monday, you’re feeling like c*** and then you usually end up going to do this.”
Here are the three tips derived from her list of mistakes to avoid.
Tip 1: Do not overtrain
For her first tip, Jenny emphasizes that overtraining and punishing yourself post-holiday is an unhealthy mindset.
“And I know that a lot of you are going to be going to this and that is overdoing the cardio, excessive cardio.”
She continues,
“This is a really unhealthy mindset to get into. You do not need to punish yourself for what happened at the weekend by killing yourself in the gym doing cardio.”
Tip 2: Do not starve yourself
The Challenge 40 star further highlights another common mistake, which is starving yourself to compensate for overindulgence.
“Number two is probably very familiar to you guys as well, which is starving yourself, eating extremely low calories for the few days, try and make up for what you ate at the weekend, which also inevitably leads to disaster because you’ll be so hungry, you’ll probably end up bingeing in the evenings anyway.”
She explains how that will only lead to binge eating and intense hunger.
Tip 3: Do not weigh yourself
For her last tip, the fitness coach advises not to weigh yourself right after a fun weekend. She explains how the increased numbers are a result of eating more salt, heavy meals, and dehydration.
“And number three, the absolute last thing that you should do after a weekend of fun is jump on the scales because your weight is inevitably going to be up. Don’t weigh yourself, leave it at least three days.”
She wraps up the video by providing advice on what should actually be done after an overindulgent holiday weekend.
“Ultimately the only thing you can do after a weekend off plan is go back to your normal structure and routine, your normal amount of weight workouts, your normal amount of cardio and steps.”
