Post-holiday shopping returns

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WBAY) – The day after Christmas is always a busy one for area stores.

The post-holiday rush has people making exchanges, returning items, and even spending gift cards.

Consumers are doing whatever it takes to make sure they can get a full refund on those holiday gifts.

More than 75% of people look for free return options before heading to checkout, according to the National Retail Federation.

With shoppers looking to take advantage of this option, they are expected to return 17% of the merchandise bought during the holiday season.

Numerous retailers have policies like a receipt, a box for shipping, and more, which are some of the biggest reasons consumers agree to buy, in case of a return.

Here’s what you need to know if you plan to return any merchandise from Amazon.

“A number of different drop-off locations for those return items. Including in your area, Staples, Kohl’s, UPS. Kind of an easy mechanism where you come back with the original packaging and send it back so we can get that processed and get that returned to you,” Scott Seroka, the regional spokesperson for Amazon said.

As a reminder, some retailers will not take returns or exchanges after a certain time.

So it’s important to check out the store policy even before making your purchase.
