Fewer jobs available while Idaho’s unemployment rate remains unchanged since September 2023

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Job openings have fallen to the lowest level in three years. Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.3 percent in March, unchanged since September 2023.

According to the Idaho Department of Labor, the state’s labor force increased by 0.2 percent.

Idaho’s non-farm jobs increased statewide by 3,100 jobs; the top sectors with the greatest gains included non-durable goods manufacturing, arts, entertainment, and recreation services.

Sectors with job decline include private educational services, as well as professional and business services.

On the national level, data released from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows employers had about 8.5 million available jobs in March. That is less than economists expected.

Right now, there are 1.3 jobs for every job seeker; the percentage of people quitting their jobs is at the lowest level since August 2020.
