Woman pushes through dark times to build business helping others
CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A woman found herself in a dark time, so, she took a leap of faith that grew into a business to help women live out their dreams.
Betsy Leonidas is the creator of the “Write Your Own Story” podcast. She also launched the Female Founders Academy, which teaches women how to start a business.
After a struggling period, she found her voice which she uses to share the blueprint with others.
“There are days where I’m like, ‘No, I’m a boss and be in more in a masculine energy,’ and there are days where I’m like, ‘Now I’m going to Jazz it up today,” Leonidas says.
Leonidas is a boss. She runs her podcast company to help other women realize their dreams and make them come true.
“The way that comes to life is I have a podcast, where I get to tell women’s stories because I think they are so important,” explains Leonidas. “So many of us don’t want to feel alone and feel better. Women’s stories are often the clues for our future selves. Then I also have an online business course that helps moms, specifically, learn how to start and run their first year of business. It’s called the Female Founders Academy.”
Leonidas says the four-week course teaches mothers everything they need to know from starting a business plan to marketing and simply connecting with other like-minded women.
“I think as females and entrepreneurs, it can be so lonely as an entrepreneur because it’s literally just you to start so it’s an all-around community,” says Leonidas. “It’s a community class; It’s an online course, and these women have really formed an awesome bond and friendship and are really rooting for each other.”
The mother of four started her career in New York working for a top marketing and advertising agency.
Her career eventually led her to Cincinnati, but after 15 years in the corporate world and a divorce, she decided it was time to create a new path.
“When I came up for air, I was like I’m going to write this next chapter for myself,” Leonidas remembers. “I’m going to write exactly how I think it should go. Forget what I think I should do and trying to follow the rules of what life was and I just theoretically just picked up the pen and started writing my own story for my life and I’ve never been happier, and I want that gift for other women.”
Through her podcast, she interviews different women from all walks of life.
With her academy, she encourages all women to know their worth and to never settle for a life they don’t desire.
“I have really built a business around the life that I want,” Leonidas says. “So, I really want to be able to get my kids off the bus every day at 4 p.m. I never want to be so crammed with things to do where I’m overwhelmed and already hate the day before it’s even begun. So, I’ve been super intentional about building my life in a way where I can breathe, and I can be a mom and see friends and exercise, but still do the work that truly fills my cup.”
A joy that she’s eager to share with others so they too can live the life they’ve always desired.
“The world needs what you have to offer,” says Leonidas. “I just am always so passionate about inspiring and encouraging women. It feels like this is truly where I am meant to be.”
Leonidas drops a new episode of “Write Your Own Story” each week.
