Super Nintendo World’s Third Location Will Open in Orlando in 2025

Children of the 1980s, rejoice! Dreams of entering the world of favorite Nintendo games are about to become a reality again — this time in Florida, as it was announced Thursday that the much-anticipated debut of Super Nintendo World is now set for 2025 at the Universal Orlando Resort.

On Thursday, Universal Orlando announced in a press release that five imaginative worlds at the all-new Universal Epic Universe theme park, which were developed by the visionaries of Universal Creative and Nintendo, will make their debut sometime next year. Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe will feature multiple attractions, dining, shopping, and Super Mario and Donkey Kong Country-inspired interactive experiences.

Upon arrival, guests will fulfill some of their childhood wishes and finally get to the portal to Super Nintendo World through the iconic green pipe of the Super Mario Bros. games and into the new immersive land. The release says that vibrant scenery and exciting kinetic energy will greet them on the other side of the pipe tunnel, as familiar sights like Mt. Beanpole and Princess Peach’s Castle are surrounded by memorable scenery like Piranha Plants, Goombas, those sought-after spinning coins and more details from the all-time favorite video game.

In Donkey Kong Country visitors will encounter thrills featuring the titular ape, found at the edge of Super Mario Land. Here, guests will discover an entrance that leads them to Donkey Kong Country, where they’ll explore the tall trees, waterfalls, and landmarks such as The Golden Temple landscapes from the video game series. Then they’ll hop into a minecart and move through the jungle to help Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong protect the coveted golden banana.

Mine-Cart Madness is an unprecedented ride system, with innovative technology and a unique coaster design where guests will have an experience akin to getting blasted out of a barrel, feeling as if they’re jumping over gaps while speeding over rickety track, and so much more recalled from the 1990s Super Nintendo favorite.

But would this be complete without some Mario Kart? No, of course not. That’s where Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge invites guests to join Team Mario in its battle against Team Bowser for the Golden Cup in a fusion of augmented reality, projection mapping technology, and elaborate environments. Guests up for the challenge will enter through Bowser’s Castle as the plot preamble unfolds, then board a kart, steering through Mario Kart courses.

Yoshi’s Adventure will provide a family-friendly ride in which guests can enjoy views of Super Mario Land before they join Yoshi in his travels through the Mushroom Kingdom landscapes in search of glowing eggs. Finally, there’s Toadstool Cafe, where dishes inspired by the Super Mario Universe and its characters will be offered including themed burgers, Fire Flower Spaghetti and Meatballs, and other options; elsewhere Yoshi’s Snack Island and Turbo Boost Treats will also offer up some treats, snacks and beverages.

This is the third installment of the immersive Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe. For now, the franchises are at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan.
