Malls, entertainment and more. Here’s what’s open, closed during Indiana snowstorm

With a lot of schools closed, parents want to keep children entertained during this snow day. But be warned, as a lot of places around the city are closed as well.

Marion County is under a travel advisory because of Winter Storm Blair, which means that although routine travel or activities may be restricted because of hazardous conditions, it’s still the lowest level of a local advisory. People are cautioned to travel only if they must.

Indianapolis Department of Public Works crews are focused on plowing and continuing to clear streets and intersections.

“Constant reminder for people to please make sure you are taking your time and giving yourself extra time to get to where you need to be,” said Auboni Hart, Indy DPW spokesperson. “Also, allowing extra space between you and the driver in front of you.”

Indy-area malls delay opening Monday

All Indianapolis-area Simon malls are on a delayed schedule Monday, opening at noon due to snow. Those shopping centers include: Castleton Square Mall, The Fashion Mall at Keystone, Greenwood Park Mall and Hamilton Town Center. Shoppers can check the status of specific malls online.

Java House Café

All Java House Café locations are closed Monday.

Indianapolis Public Libraries

Due to weather, all Indianapolis Public Library locations will be closed on Monday.

YMCA

Due to ongoing inclement weather conditions YMCA of Greater Indianapolis centers is closed Monday.

BMV branches

These branches are closed: Batesville, Beech Grove, Boonville, Brookville, Connersville, Evansville East, Franklin, Greensburg, Lebanon, Linton, New Albany, North Vernon, Princeton, Salem, Tell City, Washington.

These branches had delays and are set to open at noon:Central Office Title Processing, Dealer Fleet Beech Grove, Dealer Fleet Indy East, Midtown

Eiteljorg Museum

The museum store, gallery and café are closed Monday.

IMA/Newfields

Newfield’s is closed on Mondays and their usual scheduled hours are Tuesday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Indianapolis Zoo

The Indianapolis Zoo is also closed Mondays with their usual scheduled hours being from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday.

Indianapolis Children’s Museum

The Children’s Museum is also closed Mondays with their usual scheduled hours being Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
