Zanesfield Petanque Club Members Travel to California – Peak of Ohio

Last weekend, three Zanesfield Petanque Club members traveled to Sonoma, California for the Valley of the Moon Petanque Club Wine Country Open.

Being an International event there were players from all over the USA, Mexico, and Europe, with 64 Doubles teams in attendance with it being one of the largest petanque events in the USA.

On Saturday each team played five qualifying rounds to determine their bracket on Sunday.

ZPC members Ziggy Kessouagni and Roland Rakotondramanana (Sactown Petanque) went 5-0 and ranked #2.

Mamy Ranaivoson with Rene van Kesteren (Salt Lake City Petanque) 2-3 ranked #50, and Debbie Cameron with Sandra Shirkey (Sactown) went 1-4 and ranked #59

Team Ranaivoson was placed in Group 2 and dropped their first game to drop into Bracket D where they lost their first game to be eliminated.

Team Cameron was placed in Group 2 and dropped their first game to drop into Bracket D also where they won their first game but dropped their next to be eliminated.

Team Kessouagni was placed in Group 1A where they won four straight games to reach the final which they lost 0-13 to place 2nd overall in the event.
