A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of power tools, according to the Lincoln Police Department.
Police responded to a theft in progress at about 3:55 a.m. at Eric’s Electric at 601 Calvert St.
The owner of the business told police he had received an alert from his surveillance system and believes he saw someone breaking into cars, Capt. Todd Kocian said.
The owner also saw a man pushing a cart of tools from the area.
Police said when they heard about the incident, they began looking through traffic cameras and observed a man pushing a cart across Nebraska Parkway.
Officers arrived and located 42-year-old Taylor Orr with a cart holding various power tools, Kocian said.
Police estimate that $4,500 worth of power tools were recovered and $600 in damage was done to vehicles.
Orr was arrested on suspicion of unlawful taking. He is being held at the Lancaster County jail.
