A company is planning a $35 million investment in Bamberg County that is expected to create 250 jobs, according to a press release from the county.
The manufacturing facility, which is currently only known as “Project Lighting,” will be located in Crossroads Industrial Park.
Bamberg County Chairman Evert Comer Jr. said Project Lightning, “could have chosen any other place in the country to set up shop. This is incredible news for Bamberg County!
“We have suffered many setbacks, most recently due to the tornado, but Bamberg County is resilient. Bamberg County Council will continue to work to find solutions that will improve the quality of life for all our citizens.”
Bamberg County Council is scheduled to consider an inducement resolution for preliminary approval of a 30-year fee in lieu of taxes agreement with the company. The first reading of a corresponding ordinance will also occur during Monday night’s council meeting.
