Bestine’s 100th Hit Starts Westfield’s 19-Hit Attack
WESTFIELD — Tanleigh Bestine led off the game with a single to right field for her 100th career hit and Westfield beat Panama 18-3 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West action.
Bestine finished 2 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored for the Wolverines (8-3, 8-1), who pounded out 19 hits. Sydney Hotchkiss was 4 for 5 with a double and four RBIs; Drew Ernewein doubled twice, drove in two runs and scored two runs; Keara Kincaid doubled twice and scored three runs; Brynn Ernewein doubled twice, scored three runs and drove in two runs; and Eva Gnadzinski was 4 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Gnadzinski threw five innings of three-hit ball, striking out two and walking one.
Kaitlyn Horton tripled and Corinne Hovey singled for the Panthers (3-6, 2-5).
BEARS WALK BY JAMESTOWN
FREWSBURG — Eleven Frewsburg batters were hit by pitches and nine walked as the Bears beat Jamestown 15-2 in nonleague softball Friday at the Robert H. Jackson Sports Complex.
Paige Whippo and Taytum Jimerson had the only two hits for Frewsburg (6-6). Teagan Nazario threw a complete-game three-hitter with just one strikeout in the circle.
Peyton Senear had two hits and Madison Potter also singled for the Red & Green (2-9).
COUGARS OUTLAST BULLDOGS
BROCTON — Hailey Myers doubled and had 2 RBIs to lead Cassadaga Valley past Brocton 12-9 in nonleague action.
Andrea Johnson added a triple for Cassadaga Valley (3-8, 1-6 CCAA D2 West), Denza Fanara doubled with an RBI, Mia Fanara went 2 for 3 and Anna Burlingame finished 2 for 4.
Johnson secured the win in the circle with 11 strikeouts and one earned run on four hits and two walks.
Brocton (1-8, 0-6 CCAA East 1) went with three pitchers in Haleigh Furman, Jordia Krauter and Madison Sears. Paige Miller paced the Bulldogs offensively going 2 for 5 with two doubles and Zoe Spiller finished 2 for 4 with an RBI.
BLACK KNIGHT BLANK PANTHERS
SILVER CREEK — Rylee Weiskerger struck out seven batters and gave up just one hit to lead Silver Creek past Pine Valley 12-0 in Division 1 East action.
Silver Creek (10-1, 7-0) received a 3 RBI double from Laneya Olsen and Hailie Rybij hit a 2 RBI single.
Jessina Miller recorded the lone hit for Pine Valley (2-8, 0-6).
