Lancers Travel To 10th Ranked Duke Sunday – Longwood University Athletics

The First Pitch:
•    Longwood is set to travel to Duke for a double header Sunday afternoon.
•    Longwood comes into the weekend following a weekend series vs UNC Asheville where they took two of three from the Bulldogs.
•    Longwood currently sits tied for sixth in the Big South standings.
•    The Lancers are set two play their final two non conference games Sunday, before taking on USC Upstate and Radford to conclude the regular season.

Around The Bases:

•    Longwood is set to travel to nationally ranked Duke Sunday for a non conference double header.

•    The Lancers look to continue to grow off their last performance, where they took two of three from UNC Asheville.

•    The Lancers experience has been a steady piece on both sides of the ball this season. Noah Campanelli, Hayden Harris,Tanner Thomas and Drew Camp help lead the way for Longwood at the plate, while Sean Gibbons, Dominick D’Ercole, and Brenton Fisher have been mainstays on the mound for the Lancers.

•    On Friday, Longwood jumped out to and early lead when Noah Campanelli hit his second home run of the season.

 •    Sean Gibbons came on in relief for the Lancers, going 6.0 innings, striking out seven, and earned the win for Longwood.

•    A Hayden Harris in the bottom of the eighth proved to be the winning hit for Longwood as they went on to take game one 4-1.

•    In game two, both teams played tight through seven, but a Robbie Burnett home run in the eighth ultimately allowed Asheville to tie the series at two, forcing a rubber match Sunday.

•    The Lancers struck first on Sunday when Blagen Pado singled up the middle to score Tanner Thomas in the second.

•    Longwood used big performances from Tanner Thomas, Drew Camp, and Hayden Harris who each drove in two runs to pace the Lancers to a series clinching win. Thomas hit for two hits in back to back days to pace the Lancers on the weekend.

•    The Lancers are still proving that they are not afraid when it comes to being hit by a pitch. They currently sit eighth in the country in HBP at 96.

.•    Longwood has also proven to be an unselfish bunch at the plate this season as they have the seventh most sacrifice bunts on the season in the country at 42
