Summerville fire crews respond to early morning business fire

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) – Multiple businesses suffered smoke and water damage Sunday morning after one of them caught fire.

Around 4:30 a.m., Summerville Police advised that Old Trolley Road at Beverly Drive was closed while Summerville Fire & Rescue responded to a call in the area.

They said the road was reopened just before 7 a.m.

Chief Fire Marshal Jeremiah Lee with Summerville Fire & Rescue says this incident was a reported commercial fire on the 1200 block of Old Trolley Road.

While crews did not see any signs of fire from the outside, upon entry, they encountered smoke and heat that indicated one was present.

They found the fire and had it under control in less than five minutes, but the smoke and water damage impacted neighboring businesses.

No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation at this time.
