New owners of Black Hills Bagels adjusting nicely to the business

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – 2024 brings new changes to Black Hills Bagels. The much-loved local business changed hands to new ownership and since then the owners have been working to retain their customer base while trying new things. In honor of National Beverage Day, we looked at some of the different drinks they serve.

In terms of drinks, The most obvious choice at Black Hills Bagels is coffee. The business partners with Dark Canyon Coffee and Pure Bean Coffee to provide the beans that they brew daily. One of the owners, Eric Hawronsky takes great pride in the fact that these beans are sourced from individual farmers.

He says adjusting to the new business has been relatively easy, saying the community has been supportive of the change in ownership and any small changes he implements. He turned to his team of employees to help out. They came up with the idea of employees voting for new drink combinations to make as a special every month and it has been a huge success.

“I believe it was their idea that they were like ‘Hey can we come up with a new drink option’ and I was like ‘Yeah let’s do it’ and kind of progressed from there to now everyone’s excited for what the next creation is gonna be,” Hawronsky said.

Right now the drink of the month is called the coal miner, It’s a sweeter drink based on a cold brew that Black Hills Bagels normally serves.
