World Olympic Wrestling Qualifiers 2024: Watch live streaming in India and get schedule

Antim Panghal (53kg) obtained India’s first quota from the 2023 World Wrestling Championships while Vinesh Phogat (50kg), Anshu Malik (57kg) and Reetika Hooda (76kg) added to the tally at the Asian Qualifiers in Bishkek last month.

With four quotas already in the bag, Mansi Ahlawat (62kg) and Nisha (68kg) will be India’s only women’s wrestlers at the Istanbul qualifying event. Mansi Ahlawat fell one win short of an Olympic quota in Bishkek but will look to put the heartbreak behind her by going all the way in Istanbul.

India have won five medals in men’s freestyle wrestling in the last four editions of the Summer Games. Two of them came at Tokyo 2020.

However, heading into Paris 2024, India’s participation in men’s freestyle looks uncertain. The onus will be on Aman Sehrawat, a former Asian and U23 world champion, and Olympian Deepak Punia to change that in Istanbul.

Aman, who is competing in the same division as Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Ravi Dahiya, stopped one win short of a quota at the continental qualifiers in Bishkek and will be desperate to make his last chance count.

Deepak Punia, who narrowly missed a medal at Tokyo 2020, and Sujeet Kalakal, who competes in the same division as Tokyo bronze medal winner Bajrang Punia, unfortunately, couldn’t even compete in Bishkek due to flight delays owing to heavy rainfall in Dubai. Both are set to compete in Istanbul.

India will also be on the hunt for Olympic quotas in all six Greco-Roman categories.
