Man accused in business burglaries pleads guilty
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – One of the men charged in a case of several business burglaries has changed his plea and was sentenced.
Amar Kovacevic was initially charged with burglary, theft, unlawful vehicle entry and refusal to halt related to the burglaries in December 2023. On May 6, Kovacevic pleaded guilty to two burglary charges and one theft charge. The three other charges were dismissed.
Kovacevic was sentenced to 5 years in the Department of Corrections, but will end up serving less than a year. He must first serve 1 year and 1 day, but was given credit for 137 days already behind bars. That sentence is followed by 18 months of supervised probation.
The other man charged in the case, Jacob Iten, has several open cases related to burglary, theft and drug possession. As of this publication, he’s charged with more than 20 counts across six separate court cases between December 2023 and May 2024. He was most recently charged in Cass County with theft and burglary charges filed on May 7. Court records say there is currently a warrant out for his arrest.
