NY School Worker Advances Suit Over Travel for Jewish Holy Days

New Rochelle City School District will face the bulk of a Ashkenazi Jewish woman’s claims that she was removed as its medical director because she traveled to Trinidad and Tobago for religious reflection.

The ruling Tuesday is the latest to address how far courts may probe a worker’s religious beliefs when one sues for alleged religious discrimination. That question has played a significant role in the disposition by federal courts of the wave of job bias suits filed in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and employer vaccination mandates.
