Cuyahoga County named Bicycle Friendly Business

CLEVELAND — The League of American Bicyclists named Cuyahoga County as a Bicycle Friendly Business, making it one of more than 1,300 businesses working to make areas more bike-friendly.

“I am beyond proud to know that Cuyahoga County has been recognized by the League of American Bicyclists for our continued commitment to promoting cycling as a sustainable and healthy transportation option,” said County Executive Chris Ronayne in a press release. “I am thankful to our team for continuing to make the County safer and more accessible for cyclists.”

Cuyahoga received a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Business award, which recognizes contributions the business has made in order to make bicyclists more safe.

“We’re proud to celebrate this round of new and renewing Bicycle Friendly Businesses who are investing their resources to not only build up bicycling in the workplace but in their communities as well,” said Bill Nesper, executive director of the League of American Bicyclists, in a press release. “It takes collaboration to build an America where every person can safely and easily choose to bike, and we applaud Cuyahoga County pedaling alongside us to power this movement.”

The list of Bicycle Friendly Businesses nationwide includes government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, museums, hospitality establishments, bike shops and more.

“Cuyahoga County is dedicated to creating a safe and accessible environment for all cyclists,” said Annie Pease, the county’s senior advisor on Transportation, in a press release. “Through investments in infrastructure and programming like Cuyahoga Greenways, we are making it more convenient for our residents to engage in modes of transportation that promote wellness and protect the environment.”

Because of the award, the county now has access to tools and technical assistance from the League of American Bicyclists. To learn more about the program, click here.
