Delays at RDU security lines on busy travel weekend

A busy travel day at Raleigh-Durham International Airport got off to a rocky start on Saturday morning.

Video taken from the airport’s security lines around 7:20 a.m. show a major back-up as people try to get through TSA.

RDU tells WRAL News that an improper procedure during screening shut down security operations for around 20 minutes.

Lines are up and moving again now – though it’s possible some people missed flights due to the disruption.

More than 300,000 people are expected to travel through RDU this weekend, as thousands arrive for graduations in the Triangle area. That’s a six percent increase from this time last year.
