Meet Jane Bachmann, Seed World U.S. Editorial Board Member – Seed World

Jane Bachmann leads seed business communications for Corteva Agriscience.

Jane is responsible for internal and external communications for the global seed business, her team finds innovative ways to make complex information simple as they advocate for market access to seed technology and help improve understanding of business priorities.

Since joining Corteva in 2010 as their research communications manager, she has held several technical, strategy and business communication leadership roles. Jane has served as leader of global research communications for DuPont Pioneer and DuPont, managed executive and leadership communications during the merger between Dow and DuPont and led commercial communications for Corteva globally, and for the North American business.

During her tenure with the company, she developed the company’s science communications platform, product pipeline investor communications strategy and led the launch for the Brevant® seed brand.

Prior to joining Corteva, Jane led global science and biotechnology communications for Syngenta at the company’s Research Triangle Park, NC office, and the global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. She previously worked as a research scientist.

Raised on a small family farm, Jane is a native of Iowa. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Iowa and a Master of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Jane represents Corteva on the communications committee of the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA). Previously, she represented Corteva on the American Chemistry Council (ACC) board of directors. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of Iowa, a former Girl Scout leader, and an avid fan of the Drake University Marching Band.

Why she serves on the Seed World U.S. editorial board: “It all starts with the seed. And Seed World is the staple in the seed industry — serving as the ‘go to’ resource for what’s happening now and what’s on the horizon for everything seed. I’m excited to work alongside the talented Seed World team and editorial board members to contribute ideas for topics that matter to the industry and our customers all over the world.”

What do you love about the seed industry?

The people! The seed industry is truly global – with representation from every country and every field, and they are very focused on helping make agriculture more accessible and more productive.

What do you see as a big opportunity for the seed industry in the future?

Innovation. Everywhere you look in the seed industry, people are bringing forward innovations – from genetics and breeding, to biotechnology, to new ways to plant and harvest crops. We can make a big difference in the lives of farmers and society if we continue to learn and be open to new ideas.
