I immediately recognized a fashion find at my thrift store, I only paid $80
A FASHIONISTA was wowed when she found a pair of designer shoes in her size for a bargain price.
She gushed about the stylish footwear being in good condition after examining them.
She took to Reddit’s ThriftStoreHauls forum to share a photo of her feet in the shoes using the handle u/JadedRaccoon.
The style enthusiast said the footwear was her most successful thrift store find.
“My white whale; a pair of nearly new Valentino Rockstud flats in my size and color for $80,” she said. “Retails for $975.”
The shoes looked shiny and free from any scratches in the photo.

An almost identical pair of pre-loved black leather Valentino shoes were sold for just under $700 on Vestiare Collective.
Meanwhile, MyTheresa is selling new Rockstud leather ballet flats with nude trim for $980.
Over 1,000 people up-voted the Redditor’s post after being impressed with her affordable purchase.
Many commenters reassured her that the shoes looked authentic from Italian luxury brand Valentino.
“They look real! You can tell by the weight of the studs,” one person wrote. “The real ones are pretty dense.”
“What a great find!! They are gorgeous,” another commented.
“WOW! What a find! These are super cute,” a third chimed in.
“I have fakes and real ones, and also work in high-end fashion,” another said.
“I’m pretty good at spotting the differences even if very subtle between fake and real items.
“The fakes the straps stay up when off and the real ones the straps kinda flop down from the weight.
“You’re so very lucky to find them in your size and style! That’s unreal amazing!
“They look perfect on you!”
Worst times to visit a thrift store
According to Apartment Therapy, Fridays and before major events such as Halloween are the worst times to visit thrift stores.
Other customers will have already picked out valuable items and staff won’t have had time to restock the shelves.
According to 1st Dibs, genuine Valentino shoes are sold in a box with a linen texture, and the brand’s name written in red.
The shoes have a “neat and even” tag sewn inside and the sole is flat.
Valentino footwear also has a serial number written in a color that matches the shoe’s hardware.
The designer purchase comes after another Redditor was delighted to find a Gucci handbag for just $7.99.
She said her husband called her a “thrift witch” because it was worth at least $600.
She was convinced the handbag was authentic after checking the serial number.
