NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Tulane Green Wave clinched a remarkable series victory against the #6 East Carolina University (ECU) Pirates with a thrilling 10-9 win in 10 innings on Sunday (May 12) at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. The victory sealed a clean sweep for Tulane, marking their first series sweep over ECU since 2008 and their first at home against the Pirates since 2005.

The game’s decisive moment came from Tulane’s second baseman Connor Rasmussen, who transferred from East Carolina. Rasmussen’s timely hit down the right field line ignited celebrations among the Green Wave faithful, securing his team’s 29-23 overall record and 13-11 standing in the American Athletic Conference. Meanwhile, the Pirates’ record dropped to 37-13 overall and 16-8 in the league.

Tulane launched four of the game’s six home runs on a windy day in New Orleans. Left fielder Jackson Linn led the charge with two homers, while third baseman Gavin Schulz and catcher Colin Tuft each contributed one. Linn and Tuft drove in three runs apiece, with Linn also crossing the plate three times.

ECU’s offense was led by designated hitter Ryan McCrystal and right fielder Jacob Jenkins-Cowart, who combined for six hits and six RBIs. Tulane battled back from ties at 6-all, 7-all, and 9-all to force extra innings.

Reliever Jacob Moore earned his second win of the weekend for Tulane, pitching three and two-thirds innings with three strikeouts and no walks. On the other side, reliever Jackson DiLorenzo suffered the loss for ECU.

The Green Wave’s dominance was evident early on, as they surged to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, fueled by Tuft’s three-run homer.

Tulane will conclude its AAC regular season schedule with three games against Charlotte, starting Thursday with a doubleheader at 5 p.m., followed by the series finale on Saturday at noon.
