Kentucky medical cannabis business licensing applications to open soon

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Last month, Governor Andy Beshear signed a bill into law that allows businesses to have medical cannabis licenses.

Applications for business licenses open July 1 and close Aug. 31.

Types of business licenses include cultivator, processor, safety compliance facility and dispensary.

State officials released a map of the program’s 11 medical cannabis regions for licensing dispensaries.

The initial allocation of medical cannabis business licenses will be through a lottery system.

There will not be a lottery system for the allocation of licenses for Safety Compliance Facilities, as officials say there’s no initial limitation on the number of those licenses.
