Intel has introduced a new PC-to-PC connectivity software called Thunderbolt Share which will let users connect two PCs for increased productivity.

Currently, connecting two PCs and using them on a single screen can be a hassle to set up. The software does exist but it’s not too robust and needs proper support which can be a tedious job for consumers however, Intel has come up with a solution that leverages existing Thunderbolt 4 & the upcoming Thunderbolt 5 devices and lets users easily connect two PCs and use them both at once.

Starting with the details, the main functionality of Intel’s Thunderbolt Share is to deliver ultra-fast PC-to-PC connectivity which offers users an easy, fast, and efficient way to to increase the overall productivity of their PC experience. You can not just share screens between two PCs but also get access to devices (keyboard, mouse) and storage files which are a necessity for business users.

Intel actually did the math to back the development of this software. According to the stats, the average PC users (gaming, prosumer, professional) own at least 2 PCs in their household and there is a split between laptop and desktop use. Currently, the laptop reigns supreme as the “Main PC” while the desktop is primarily used for high-end purposes. So one can expect that there’s a lot of data on either device that users would like to transfer between each other.

The company also highlights a diverse and flexible range of configurations that can be achieved using the Thunderbolt Share technology. You can have two PCs connected together such as a desktop and laptop PC or two laptops connected either directly to a Thunderbolt-supported display or through a Thunderbolt Dock.

The Intel Thunderbolt Share software suite will also come with an intuitive user interface making the whole sharing and syncing process easier. Dragging and dropping files would be instantaneous thanks to the higher speeds provided by the Thunderbolt interface. Similarly, Screen Sharing will be smooth and the Thunderbolt bandwidth will retail the original resolution of the source PC without compression artifacts or latency issues.

The Intel Thunderbolt Share technology is coming to PCs and will also be licensed to OEMs as a value-added feature on their upcoming PCs and Thunderbolt accessories.
