Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame to induct five new members

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Five sports legends from around our community will be inducted into the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame during a weekend of events, May 17-18.

This year’s inductees are Connor Barth, Joe Browning, James Faison, Alley Hart and Sherri Tynes, according to the GWSHOF website.

Several events will celebrate this year’s class ahead of Sunday’s induction ceremony, including a luncheon at the Wilmington Convention Center, which starts at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning.

On Saturday, the festivities continue with a fundraiser golf tournament. It’s set to begin at 9 a.m. at the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course. Then on Sunday, starting at 5:00 p.m., a reception and auction will take place at the convention center, followed by the induction ceremony at 6:00 p.m.
