From May 23rd to May 29th, TSA expects to screen over 18 million passengers and crew, a significant 6.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

This translates to potentially longer lines and busier security checkpoints throughout the summer.

Navigating Security Checkpoints with Confidence

Travelers can expect to encounter some exciting new advancements at security checkpoints this summer. Here’s what you need to know:

• Next-Generation Credential Authentication Technology (CAT-2): This technology improves security by verifying your ID and flight details electronically.

CAT-2 offers an optional facial recognition scan to match your photo on your ID. Passengers who prefer not to participate can opt for a traditional manual ID check.

• Computed Tomography (CT) Scanners: These state-of-the-art scanners provide 3D X-ray images of carry-on luggage, potentially reducing the need for physical bag searches.

Passengers using CT lanes can keep their electronics and liquids in their bags for screening, but all carry-on items still need to be placed in bins for inspection.
