W&L Sweeps ODAC Commissioner’s Cups – Washington and Lee University
FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee earned all three of the ODAC Commissioner’s Cups with the Generals collecting their 22nd straight Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup and a 21st consecutive ODAC Women’s Commissioner’s Cup prize. The Generals reclaimed the ODAC Men’s Commissioner’s Cup after the University of Lynchburg took it home in 2022-23.
The Blue and White have earned the overall champions status 28 times overall, men’s cup has been won 23 times and the women’s sport title has been claimed 24 times.
As determined by the ODAC Board of Directors, points for the ODAC Commissioner’s Cups are based on regular-season standings in team sports and championship team finishes in individual/meet sports. Each institution has a total number of possible points it can collect based on its sport sponsorship. The total number of points earned is then divided by the total number of possible points to determine the rating for each institution.
The men’s sports earned 116 of the 133 possible points by finishing the regular season as the top seed in men’s lacrosse, soccer and tennis and captured the max amount of points in swimming with the Generals championship trophy. The Blue and White bested Hornets’ 98.5 points to return the trophy back to Lexington.
On the women’s side W&L was the top-seeded team in women’s basketball, tennis, and lacrosse, then earned the ODAC title in all three. The women’s swimming championship also earned the Generals the max amount of points in the standings. The Blue and White totaled 122 of the possible 135 points. Lynchburg trailed the women’s scores as the runner-up with 114 points.
