Entertainment critic Derek Sante checks out The Stranger’s: Chapter 1, Force of Nature
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Coming to theaters this weekend is a suspenseful remake that;s coming in many parts, it’s called The Stranger’s: Chapter 1. A horror story as old as time, a young good looking couple, their car breaks down in a dark wooded rural area and their only choice is to hole up in a cabin in the woods. Frightening with many horror tropes, the film finds itself with the characters and acting. I’ll give this one a C+.
Also in theaters and everywhere you watch movies comes Force of Nature: the Dry 2. Starring Eric Bana returning as Detective Aaron Falk. Last time we caught him in the dusty outback, now he investigates in a much more hydrated forest as murder returns. Those that watched the original Dry story will enjoy the mystery and lively Australian background. And while Eric Bana leads, the wonderful Anna Torv does the real heavy lifting in this film. I’ll give it a grade of B.
Flipping over to Amazon Prime Video, we turn into Rural with a sci-fi twist with Outer Range: Season 2. Starring Josh Brolin and Imogen Poots, we return to Wyoming and its mysterious people and phenomenon. From parallel universes to time traveling, this series extends what the unknown can be and how it can affect everyone that believes and skeptics alike. This season gets a B- from me, it leans into the insane ride that it is, though it can be a bit of a slog at times.
