Cassie appeared to be bruised on her body 2 days after Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs appeared to physically attack her in 2016, report says

Singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura was photographed with what appears to be bruises on her legs and arms days after an alleged physically assault by Sean “Diddy” Combs in a 2016 attack that was caught on video.

In newly-surfaced surveillance footage obtained by CNN, the music mogul — who has had a cascade of sexual assault allegations levied against him in recent months — can be seen grabbing, shoving, dragging, and kicking his then-girlfriend in a hallway of a Los Angeles hotel.

The footage, compiled from multiple camera angles dated March 5, 2016, matches an alleged incident of physical assault that Cassie described in the lawsuit she brought against the rapper in November 2023.

Two days after the attack, the former couple attended the premiere of Ventura’s movie, A Perfect Match,” where they were photographed holding hands and smiling for the cameras.

Photos from the evening also show that the “Me & U” singer may have had several faint bruises visible on her body.

For the red carpet, Ventura wore a gold and black full-length dress that exposed her back and arms. Later that evening, she changed into a green mini-dress that showed off her legs.

Page Six has shared pictures highlighting where it believes the bruises are, but it’s unconfirmed if the bruising was the result of the incident two days prior.

Ventura did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular working hours. Her attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, has shared a statement regarding the unearthed CCTV footage with CNN.

“The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs,” he said. “Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”

The footage, which the outlet published on Friday, shows Combs leaving a hotel room with a towel wrapped around his waist to follow his then-girlfriend down a corridor at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City.

When he reaches Ventura at the elevators, he grabs her by the back of the neck, throws her down, kicks her twice, and drags her by her hoodie across the ground.

After picking up her belongings and walking away, Combs then returns and continues his attack, shoving Ventura and sitting down in a chair before throwing an object in her direction.

While not seen in the footage, CNN reported that Combs ceased his attack when one of the elevator doors opened and someone appeared to exit.

In her lawsuit, filed in Manhattan federal court on November 16, 2023, Ventura recounted an incident that occurred in the hotel room at the now-closed hotel, stating that an intoxicated Combs had “punched her in the face, giving her a black eye.”

“After he fell asleep, Ms. Ventura tried to leave the hotel room, but as she exited, Mr. Combs awoke and began screaming at Ms. Ventura,” the lawsuit reads. “He followed her into the hallway of the hotel while yelling at her. He grabbed at her, and then took glass vases in the hallway and threw them at her, causing class to crash around them as she ran to the elevator to escape.”

Elsewhere in the lawsuit, Ventura accused Combs of perpetuating a “cycle of abuse,” raping her in their home and forcing her to engage in sex acts with male sex workers.

However, a day after the lawsuit was filed, Ventura and Combs — who had an on-again-off-again relationship from 2007 to 2018 — reached a settlement, according to The New York Times, though the agreement’s details were not publicly disclosed.
