Sports Spotlight: Reece Snow

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – It’s state championship time for High School Track and Field. As the Sabers try to lock up a state title, Reece Snow will be wearing his Legacy colors for the final time. With graduation coming up fast, it’s also a time for Snow to reflect.

“I love looking back at old pictures and old videos and stuff. It’s so cool for me. I think, yeah it was very successful for me, I had a lot of great times here. But I think I’m ready to go to the next level for sure. Once you have goals that you know and you dream about, you always have them in the back of your mind, you want to succeed with those. Graduate, as we are going to this weekend, being a state champion is another one,” said Snow.

The state meet is what the Sabers have been preparing for since before track season even started.

“It’s what the kids have done since before Christmas, through off-season, preseason and into the indoor season and then outdoor season, that’s led up to where we are now. They’ve prepared well, and we’re excited to see what happens,” said Legacy Track Head Coach Chris Clements.

“I’m pretty excited, my last state meet, ready to really prove myself again,” said Snow.

Snow holds three different school records in three different events. He’s quite good at multiple distances, and that versatility makes him a valuable piece of the Legacy team.

“I would say that Reece has had a very, very productive four years for us, and I hope he realizes his importance to Legacy track and field, and I hope he finishes out strong. He has range. It’s nice to have the ability to plug him into different places all the time,” said Clements.

Snow signed with the University of South Dakota and will run with the Coyotes.

“His best years are probably still ahead of him in college. What’s he going to turn out to be? I don’t know. Short Sprinter, long sprinter— we’ll see what happens in his near future,” said Clements.

“It was really a no-brainer when I went there for a visit. It was so nice to me and I’m ready to get down there,” said Snow.

The State Meet starts Thursday at the Bismarck Community Bowl.
