How to watch World Olympic Boxing Qualification Tournament 2024 2 live in Australia

Adrian Paoletti will look to secure a Paris 2024 Olympics quota for Australia in the men’s 92kg weight division at the second and final World Boxing Qualification Tournament starting in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.

At the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, Olympic quotas will be offered in all 13 weight categories – seven for men and six for women. However, each country can obtain a maximum of one boxing quota per weight category for the Olympics.

Australia had obtained 12 quotas in boxing for the Paris Olympics through the Pacific Games in Honiara last year. Subsequently, a 12-member Australian boxing team for the Paris Olympics was officially confirmed by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) in March this year.

The National Olympic Committees (NOC) have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games. Athletes’ participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their respective delegation at Paris 2024.

In Bangkok, countries can only enter boxers in the specific weight categories in which they have not already obtained a quota.

Adrian Paoletti competed at the first World Boxing Qualification Tournament in March but could not secure the quota in Italy.

The 28-year-old Australian boxer has been training in Thailand for the past week under national boxing coach Marcos Amado to prepare for the second Olympic qualifiers. He will compete in his opening-round bout in Bangkok on Monday.

A record number of 12 Australian boxers have already been selected for the Olympics, which is already the country’s largest-ever boxing contingent at the Summer Games to date.

The Bangkok meet will have 51 Olympics quotas – 28 in the men’s and 23 in women’s categories – up for grabs. The men’s 92kg division will have four quotas on offer.

This is also the final qualifying event for the Olympics in boxing. The qualification period ends on May 31.
