Silver River Bakery now open for business in L’Anse following soft opening

L’ANSE, Mich. (WLUC) – A new bakery business in L’Anse is keeping busy following a soft opening on May 9.

The Silver River Bakery is located just off US-41 outside of L’Anse, Marquette-bound. Nisu bread, cookies, ice cream and coffee are just some of its offerings.

“We’re going to try and have pasties every day,” Bakery Co-owner Bonnie Patana said. “We also do cinnamon rolls every day.”

According to Bonnie and her husband, fellow Co-owner Kevin, the business all started while being cooped up inside during the pandemic. Bonnie started baking at home, brought baked goods to neighbors and word started to spread.

“People started ordering food from me and it just took off,” Bonnie continued. “And now I don’t have much room at home to do it, that’s why we decided to buy a building.”

Silver River also offers pre-orders for items by calling the bakery at (906) 370-4845 or through its Facebook page.

“There’s certain items that we have that’s hard to keep on the shelf all day long,” Kevin added. “We have a list behind the cash register where people sign up for different products.”

The bakery is located at 15740 Jack O Lantern Rd. and is open Thursday through Sunday from 8 a.m until 5 p.m.
