Montgomery Chamber on new developments, jobs coming to the area
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Across from the Hyundai plant in Hope Hull, Meta’s artificial intelligence data center is now under construction.
“We started this project two and a half years ago when they first approached us. We were not aware it was Meta, it was all confidential,” said Montgomery Chamber of Commerce Senior VP of Economic Development Shelby Stringfellow.
Construction officially began in February.
The final project is expected to bring over 100 jobs. At that’s just for this facility. Four additional projects are expected to bring even more work to Montgomery
“Since 2019 we have about $400 billion worth of construction on the way right now in the hope hull area,” said Stringfellow.
Stringfellow says they are expecting 4,500 new jobs.
“The Amazon project is going on right across Interstate 65. We announced a large beverage distillery manufacturing project in 2022. First phase of that is underway. The second phase will be kicking off in June,” said Stringfellow.
