2024 JUCO World Series Day 2 sees first two eliminations
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – Day Two of this year’s Junior College World Series had some big time performances, and when it was all said and done, a pair of teams bowed out of the tournament.
Game five of the tournament but the first of the day, the final two teams in this field made their debut. A returner from last year, the Blinn Buccaneers capitalized on five walks in the fifth inning from the Crowder Roughrider’s Bullpen, to ride off with the win after some highlight catches from the Bucs in the outfield patrolling Suplizio and sink the Roughriders into the elimination bracket at a final of 7-6.
Game six was the first elimination game of the 2024 JUCO World Series, featuring the Shelton State Buccaneers and McLennan Highlanders. The Bucs pillaged the highlanders pitching early on, striking for five thanks in part to a Mason Steele three run homer. The Bucs cruised to the victory from there with the way their starter on the mound Caleb Pittman was pitching. Highlanders scratch and claw but could not climb back into it at a final of 9-2 and McLennan becomes the first team to be eliminated from the tournament.
Game seven pitted two of the top seeds against each other, with the number two seeded North West Florida State Raiders taking on the number three seeded Iowa Western Reivers. After a big third inning by the Raiders their really stepped on the gas with back-to-back jacks off the bats of Colby Jones and Jaquae Stewart to put the Raiders up 11-4 well out of striking distance for the Reivers, who’s run in Grand Junction came to an end at a final score of 11-5.3
