Alpha & Omega Fitness join in on Murph Challenge in honor of Memorial Day

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – It’s not uncommon for members at Alpha and Omega Fitness in Dothan to push themselves to the limit during a workout.

However — on Monday morning — people pushed a little further for a special reason.

The CrossFit gym participated in the Murph Challenge, which has gained popularity across many states every Memorial Day.

It is named in honor of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan.

Murphy made the ultimate sacrifice when he left his position of cover to request support for his team.

Members of Alpha & Omega Fitness completed this intense workout in honor of his bravery.

”It is a really tough workout and as you are trying to get through it, you remind yourself what every solider, every citizen, does for our freedom. Even those that gave up their lives, it helps you push through and do that workout in their honor,” Susan Frederick, the co-owner of Alpha & Omega Fitness, said.

Members completed a one-mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats and another 1 mile run to finish off the workout.
