TxDOT: No access from I-27 to Lubbock Business Park Boulevard starting Tuesday
LUBBOCK, Texas (News Release) -Starting Tuesday, May 28, I-27 drivers will no longer be able to access Lubbock Business Park Boulevard from the northbound frontage road. The frontage road will remain open but drivers will have to use E. Hunter Street to access Lubbock Business Park Blvd.
Westbound boulevard traffic will also need to use Hunter Street to connect with I-27.
The closure will allow crews to begin concrete work and upgrade drainage structures. The new traffic condition is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., Tuesday, and is expected to remain in place through the end of September.
Drivers are asked to continue to use caution through the work zone and keep the following tips in mind:
- Slow down and always follow posted work zone speed limits. Speeding is one of the major causes of work zone crashes. Remember, traffic fines double in work zones.
- Pay attention. Workers and heavy equipment may only be a few feet from passing vehicles.
- Be patient. Delays from highway construction can be frustrating, but it only takes a few extra minutes to slow down for a work zone.
The work is part of a $24.3 million project to improve mobility along I-27 in Lubbock County by rebuilding the Yucca Lane bridge.
