Inflation creates uptick in business at Charles Hegwood Community Market
BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) – With inflation still on the rise, many are choosing to load up on fruits and vegetables at local farmer’s markets.
The Charles Hegwood Community Market in Biloxi is open twice a week and is usually busy with customers and vendors from all over the area selling fruits, vegetables, and many other goods.
Chris Hight, a vendor at the market, told WLOX News inflation at grocery stores and the need for organic fruits and vegetables brings them to the location under the I-110 bridge to shop.
“Back during COVID, like a lot of us, I got into gardening real big and started thinking about how I’m gonna grow my own food if the grid went down or something like that,” Hight said.
The market is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather and temperature permitting.
