Man arrested in connection with March shooting at gambling club in Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) – A man was arrested in connection with a shooting at an illegal gambling club back in March in Bridgeport Tuesday.
38-year-old Sean Ellam of Bridgeport turned himself in to detectives on an active warrant. He is charged with criminal possession of a firearm, tampering with evidence, and stealing a firearm.
At around 11:00 P.M. on March 30th, officers responded to the area of Stratford Avenue and Logan Street on a report of multiple people shot.
They found 30-year-old Richard Davis and 32-year-old Tayvon Geter outside and they were transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Two others arrived at the hospital with non-life threatening gun shot wounds, reporting that they were shot inside the club.
Evidence showed that at the club, located at 1542 Stratford Avenue, a gun fight broke out.
During a press conference in front of the location in April, mayor Joe Ganim and police chief Roderick Porter Sr. encouraged the community to report any after hour clubs to help prevent similar crimes. The club has since shut down.
Ellam is currently being held on a $75,000 bond.
An investigation is still active. Anyone with information is asked to contact lead Detective Keith Hanson at (203) 581-5243.
