Fox Sports To Air Three ‘Beyond The Wheel’ Nascar Documentaries

The Emmy Award-winning hit Nascar series “Beyond the Wheel” will return to Fox Sports 1, starting on Wednesday evening.

The series, which is known to give a behind-the-scenes look of historic Nascar moments, will debut three documentaries as Fox’s portion of the Nascar schedule comes to a close.

Among the documentaries created by Nascar Studios and Fox Sports are films about Steve Park, Hendrick Motorsports and die-cast cars. “One Team, One Dream: 40 Years of Hendrick Motorsports” will air this evening, followed by “Die-Cast Mania” on June 5 and “Steve Park: Destined” on June 6. Each documentary will air at 6 p.m. ET on FS1’s “Nascar Race Hub.”

The documentary about Hendrick Motorsports coincides with the organization’s 40th anniversary. Hendrick Motorsports debuted in 1984 with Geoff Bodine as its first driver. Ever since, the team has 307 Cup Series victories. Bodine recently debuted his autobiography with writer Dominic Aragon to highlight his career accomplishments.

“The wins and championships are well known, but this film digs deeper to gain an understanding of how Rick Hendrick’s leadership and the team members’ dedication built an unrivaled culture of excellence and perseverance,” Nascar’s press release reads. “Structured around the team’s 40th anniversary at the April 2024 race at Martinsville Speedway, the film focuses on Hendrick’s leadership philosophy, empowering talented people to give their best effort.”

The die-cast storyline will focus on the collectible world that has blossomed in Nascar, largely thanks to investments by Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Rusty Wallace. The duo met Fred Wagenhals in the early 1990s, and he convinced them to begin turning toy cars into actual collectible items. Now, Lionel Racing is Nascar’s main creator of die-casts, and the documentary will highlight how the die-casts are made.

The documentary about Park will expand upon his journey as a modified racer from New York to being selected to drive a Cup Series car by Earnhardt himself. Park won two races with Dale Earnhardt Incorporated and also competed for Richard Childress Racing in the Cup Series. Park became infamous for multiple horrific crashes during his career, which sidelined him due to injuries and concussions.
