Sen. Ernst awards Ida Grove company “Small Business of the Week” award

IDA GROVE, Iowa (KTIV) – Iowa Senator Joni Ernst was in Siouxland Wednesday making various stops in the area. One of those stops was in Ida Grove to recognize one small business for its work.

Hawkeye Fabrication received the “Small Business of the Week” award. That award is a senate record that is signed, read, and goes down in the history books of the United States Senate. Hawkeye Fabrication is a 3rd generation business owned by the Bogue family since 1998. The company constructs steel fabrication for bridges and highways in the state of Iowa as well as other parts of the Midwest. Iowa Senator Joni Ernst said there’s nothing better than a family-owned business in the state.

“This is one of the best parts of my job. I am the ranking member on the small business committee in the United States Senate and because of that position I have the opportunity to do this,” said Senator Joni Ernst. “To recognize small businesses in all of our 99 counties and it really makes me feel so good about what I see Iowans doing.”

While in Ida Grove, Sen. Ernst toured the facility and met the employees of the business as well. Manager Jared Bogue said his family is blessed to receive this honor.

“Anytime you can have a senator or congressperson come here especially Senator Ernst it’s amazing for us,” said Jared Bogue, Manager of Hawkeye Fabrication. “We as a small business have 12 to 13 employees and to have a senator come from D.C. to hear what we’re doing and what’s important to us. It really validates being an Iowan and small-town culture where you can truly reach out and get something done and get somebody to hear you.”

Following Ernst’s stop in Ida Grove she attended a town hall in Wall Lake.
