Roundabout construction near DHMC to create travel delays

LEBANON — Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Mt. Support Road and Lahaye Drive is expected to cause traffic backups around Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, starting next month and continuing through the end of the year.

Beginning June 10, construction workers will be on site Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Patients, employees and visitors traveling to and from DHMC are advised to plan for additional travel time, according to a city construction notice. Traffic control measures, including flaggers and temporary traffic lights, will be in place to manage traffic flow and minimize delays.

The roundabout was designed to improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection, which is currently served by a four-way traffic signal. The construction will include roadway widening, drainage and lighting adjustments, utility relocation and extending a 1,200-foot multi-use path along Mt. Support Road to the north of the intersection.

Work is expected to be completed next spring 2025, with a construction hiatus during the winter months.

Those interested can subscribe on the city’s website to receive traffic alerts and project updates via email or text.
