Mahershala Ali in Talks for Starring Role in New Jurassic World Movie

Scarlett Johansson may be joined by another star from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Jurassic World movie. Mahershala Ali, who will play the MCU’s Blade in an upcoming film, is in negotiations to co-star with Johansson in the Jurassic World film that’s dated for a 2025 release.

This news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter. The report noted that Ali is currently in talks for a starring role, but he has not yet officially signed on. No details have been shared about the movie’s plot at this time, nor is there any information about the character that Ali would be playing. His potential casting follows the cast signing on Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo.

The movie will be directed by Gareth Edwards, and the script is from Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park co-writer David Koepp. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing for Kennedy/Marshall, while Steven Spielberg is executive producing for Amblin Entertainment. Sara Scott and Jacqueline Garell will oversee the film for the studio.

No Plot Details Are Known About the New Movie

Plot details are still under lock and key, but it’s expected that the seventh Jurassic Park film — or fourth Jurassic World movie, depending on how one looks at it — will serve as a bit of a soft reboot. It may be set in the same world as the previous two trilogies, but it will reportedly follow a new cast of main characters, and it’s unclear if there will be any stars from Jurassic Park or Jurassic Worldmaking special appearances. There are rumors that the new movie will be titled Jurassic City, further differentiating this new film from previous installments.
