Ohio Tax-Free Weekend extended: What to know
OHIO (WOIO) – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Friday a ten day long extension to the annual sale tax holiday.
The holiday that allows tax-free purchases made in-person and online of up to $500 will now run from 12 A.M. July 30 to 11:59 P.M. August 8, according to a press release.
Gov. DeWine said this holiday is meant to help families prepare for the upcoming school year and the extension will go beyond back-to-school shopping as household budgets are strained.
This is a week-long extension to the previous three-day holiday, which also only covered school-related items with a much lower price maximum of $75 for an item of clothing and $20 per item of school supplies.
This state sales tax holiday does not exempt sales tax on the purchase of watercraft, outboard motors, motor vehicles, alcoholic beverage, tobacco, vapor products, or any item that contains marijuana.
