Planet Fitness Offering Free Workouts For RI High School Students

RHODE ISLAND — Rhode Island parents, are you looking for a way to help keep your teens in shape this summer?

Planet Fitness re-launched its High School Summer Pass program for students aged 14 to 19. This means high school age kids in Rhode Island and other states can work out for free between June 1 and Aug. 31.

The program was originally launched in 2019 as the Teen Summer Challenge — an effort to get young people to exercise more, which saw about 900,000 teenagers sign up to participate.

“As the leader in fitness with locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, Planet Fitness is proud to continue to invest in today’s youth by providing free access to fitness during a critical time in their lives,” Chris Rondeau, the chief executive officer of Planet Fitness, said. “Many teens continue to be impacted by the long-term mental health impacts from the pandemic, yet studies show that exercise can have a significant, positive impact on teens’ overall wellness. We look forward to welcoming High School Summer Pass participants into our clubs to support them in their health and wellness journeys.”

Planet Fitness has 18 gyms in Rhode Island including in the following communities: Warwick, Cranston, Providence, Coventry, East Providence, North Kingstown, Johnston, Pawtucket, North Providence, Smithfield, Cumberland, Middletown, North Smithfield, Woonsocket and Wakefield.

Students who are 18 or 19 can sign up on their own at this link. Students 14 to 17 must register with a parent at their local location or online.
