Texas softball still scheduled to play Monday despite weather shakeup of WCWS schedule

OKLAHOMA CITY – A series of storms that rolled through Oklahoma earlier today has disrupted the Women’s College World Series, but the Texas softball team is still scheduled to play Stanford Monday at 6 p.m. in a semifinal.

However, the Longhorns may have to play tomorrow if they don’t beat the Cardinal for the second time in five days.

The first semifinal between Florida and Oklahoma got off to a late start because of thunderstorms at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma would advance with a victory, but a Florida win would have led to an immediate game two to determine the berth in the best-of-three championship series. However, WCWS officials announced Monday that a possible game two between Florida and Oklahoma would take place Tuesday at a time not yet determined.

The semifinal between Texas and Stanford will take place as scheduled at 6 p.m. If Oklahoma and Florida are forced into a game two by a Gator win, then a second game between Texas and Stanford would also take place on Tuesday.

If Oklahoma wins its first meeting with the Gators, then a potential second game between Texas and Stanford would be played Monday as part of a doubleheader between the Longhorns and Cardinal as scheduled.

The championship series will take place Wednesday-Friday, if necessary.
