El Paso’s ‘Planet Fitness thief’ gets a ‘workout’ allegedly  stealing from 5 locations

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office charged a woman they dubbed the “Planet Fitness thief” after they believe she stole several personal items, including credit cards from the gyms’ lockers.

On May 24, Deputies obtained warrants for Ruth Angelica Barraza in connection to 10 different thefts from five Planet Fitness gym locations.

On May 6, at approximately 10:31 p.m. deputies were called to a Planet Fitness at 13681 Gateway West, near Horizon, because of a robbery.

The victim told deputies that around 7 p.m. that night, someone broke into her locker and took off with several items from her purse including her credit cards, according to the EPCSO.

Deputies then discovered the stolen credit cards were used at a Ross store.

Investigators compared surveillance video from inside the Ross store and the check-in desk from Planet Fitness and identified the suspect as Barraza.
